The Battle of Lansdown
Sir Bevil Grenville's Monument
- 30min walk
Part of the 1st civil war in England.
The battle was between the armies of Sir William Waller and Sir Ralph Hopton on 5th July 1643.
You can find a monument to Sir Bevil Grenville, a hero of the royalist armies who was mortally wounded.
Location
As you go past Bath Racecourse towards Freezing Hill Lane, the monument is on the right hand side before you go down the hill.
Parking /Access
There is a layby about 100mtrs from the monument where you can park for free.
The site is on the Cotswold Way is on the Walking Trail. Dogs allowed on lead.

Beckfords Tower & Museum - 10min walk

Park & Ride sites offer an easy, cheap and convenient way to park your car and ride a bus into the centre of Bath. The Lansdown Park & Ride site provides a fully wheelchair accessible daily service into the City Centre.
Service 31 operates from Lansdown Park & Ride to Milsom Street, Bath City Centre, every 15 minutes, Monday to Sunday and including some Public Holidays. Journey times are about 10 minutes.
This service operates as a regular bus service and getting on or off the bus is allowed at any stop on Lansdown Road (in the city centre the stop to use is Milsom Street (Sg)) (see note at bottom of Fares table regards to intermediate stops).
